It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Anita here with a fun tutorial to make this gift set.  I love to quilt and embroider as much as I love to paper craft and I was thrilled to recently discover that Lori Whitlock has embroidery files that she has designed, many of which mirror her paper craft SVG files.  You can find her gorgeous embroidery files at Embroidery Online.  I will give you all the links in the post .

I bought shrink film from Amazon and used Lori’s Print & Cut Stamps Christmas Cookies which you can find here in her store .  I resized the image of the gingerbread man so that it would come out the size that I wanted.  I then printed the image onto the shrink film through my laser printer.  Just let it dry for a few minutes before coloring it.

I then used my Copic markers to color the shrink film.  I knew that the colors would deepen once I shrunk the image so chose my colors with that in mind.  I used R37, E11, G14, G07, E99 for the gingerbread man and Y08, E99, R37, G07 for the Gingerbread house.  Be sure to punch a hole in your shrink film before you put it in the oven and remember that the hole shrinks also.  The directions say to bake the film on parchment at 300 degrees for 2-3 minutes but I found that my heat gun worked much better as I could control the plastic as it shrank.  Below is the before picture.

Here is the photo of the shrink plastic after it was  done.

I went to Embroidery online and bought the bundle which had all the Christmas embroidery files that I wanted to use for this project.  It is called Christmas Time by Lori Whitlock.  You can buy the collection or the individual embroidery files.  I embroidered the phrase It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas on a piece cotton.  I then finished the edges and glued it to the front of my tote.  I also embroidered my daughter-in-law’s name on the top of the apron as this set is for her.  She is an amazing baker.

I then strung my two adorable gingerbread embellishments on some yummy twine, added a bell and glued that down as well.

I really love to match things and  have been so excited to make this project.  Here is a close up of all the goodies that I put inside the basket.

The last thing that I did was made a card that used the SVG cut file which matched the embroidery.  I used Lori’s new Christmas collection called Celebrate Christmas.  The cut file can be found here in Lori’s store and here in the Silhouette store and is called Look a lot Like Christmas Phrase.
That’s it for me.  Hope that you have a wonderful holiday season.

Hugs,

Anita

Pop-up Card Tutorial with Ashley

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope your day is filled with great food, friends, family, pie, etc.  And if you like shopping this weekend, I hope that you get all the deals you are looking for. I think there are many crafting deals that can be enjoyed right from your home and your favorite internet browser.

I am helping plan a Christmas Party for our church congregation.  We wanted each family to have a special invite.  So I searched for a pop-up card that I could make many.  I found this great Tree Pop-up (Silhouette, SVG shop).

Image 1

I decided to do a little editing. Before I un-grouped the card, I resized it just a little so that the outside of the card would fit onto a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.

Then I did a little point editing.  To add points to a design, double click on the shape, and click where you want to add a point.  For this project, I chose the point to be a corner, then I manipulated the curves to the shape that I was going for.

At our Christmas Party, we will have a program about some of the symbols of Christmas. I wanted to incorporate that into the card.  I used  images from Lori’s Dingbat Christmas font (Silhouette, SVG Shop). Since these shapes will just be an outline in the card, I deleted any extra pieces by un-grouping, releasing compound path, and deleting any of the inner pieces.

With all the symbol images placed, I added text.  Since my text isn’t too near the cuts, I decided not to do print and cut, so that I could get 2 cards for every piece of cardstock. I saved just the text in the correct format as a PDF and took it to the copy store to print.  After printed, I cut 100 cards (well the Cameo did the cutting).

I am tying them up using a cute tag from Lori’s Tag Dingbat font (Silhouette, SVG shop).

I think they are pretty cute.  I hope everyone likes the special invites.  Now only 99 more to tie :).

Happy Thanksgiving!! And Happy Shopping!

Boo Treat Box with Ashley

Have you ever been “Boo’d” by your neighbors?  Or do you want to start the fun neighborhood tradition?  It involves leaving a treat secretly at a neighbor’s door with a note telling them to “Boo” another neighbor and posting a sign that they have been “Boo’d.”

Well some very cute neighbors boo’d our house the other day.  And if something is going on my door, I want it to be cute!  Lori has several Halloween treat boxes, and the one I used includes the word Boo.  I created the treat box, then I sized the Word BOO as big as my paper.  I think it looks so cute on the door.  And the treat box is oh so fun too.  It’s ready to go to another neighbor! Silhouette Store; SVG

Here are the pieces of the box.  This box is really fun; it requires no glue for the box part.  Just a little adhesive to add the pieces onto the top.

If you cut out a big Boo in black, save the inner piece of the B.  It fits nicely behind the ghost’s eyes if you happen to use a patterned or white piece of paper.

I sized up the whole box just a little bit to fill the width of a 12 x 12.  The finished dimensions of the box are 5″ x 5″ x 1.5″.

Enjoy your week and maybe BOO a neighbor or 2.

Witch’s Hat with Ashley

October is here! Get all those Fall and Halloween decor items out.  Today, I’m sharing a witch’s hat.  You can find it at the Silhouette Design Store and in Lori’s Shop.

I have a quick Cricut Design Space tip.  When you open this witch hat SVG in Design Space, there is one of each shape and the notes of how many to cut.  You can quickly duplicate the panel pieces six times.  You don’t even need to arrange them.

When you click Make It, Design Space sorts your shapes onto mats.  It doesn’t always sort with saving paper in mind though.  To move a shape to another mat, click on the 3 dots at the top of the image and select Move to another mat.  Then you can arrange your shapes.  I was able to arrange 6 panels onto one 12 X 12 piece of paper.

Here are all the cut pieces.

I used a 3D bow to finish it off. The bow can be found here at the  Silhouette Design Store  and here in Lori’s Shop.

Have a great day!

4 Drawer Organizer Tutorial with Anita

Hi Everyone:

Anita here with a tutorial to create this adorable four drawer organizer.  I am going to show you how to put this cutie together and was thinking that you could customize them for every season.  I am going to put chocolates into mine and give it to a friend.  You can find the 4 Drawer Organizer cut file here in Lori’s store and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I used one of my favorite Echo Park Lori Whitlock designed paper lines called Sweet Baby Girl. Here is a screen shot of the cut files on my mat.  You will need to cut four of the outer box and the inner box as noted in black bold type near the boxes cut files.

Here are the pieces that you will have once you have cut everything for your project.

I always start my projects by folding the score lines as you can see by the photo above.

For the inner box you are going to want to glue the tabs from the back of the box to the side of the box.

Next you will glue the back flap into the box.

Next you will glue down the front flap into the box.

Lastly, you will glue in to the box the two last flaps and your inner box is done.

Now onto the outer box.

There are flaps along the bottom of the box cut file and you will be gluing the tabbed pieces together and leaving the flaps alone for now.

Here you can see that I have started to glue together the tabs on the outside box and am ready to glue the last side onto the box with the flaps left alone for now.

Here you can see that I glued together the last part of the box and the flaps are open and at the top.  They are going to get glued into the box and will make a lovely clean box with smooth insides which allows the inner box to slide easily in and out.

And that is how you put together both of the boxes.  Next, you will stack the four outer boxes two by two and glue them all together.  Make sure that you put enough glue to hold them together.  Lastly, you are going to glue on your accent pieces to finish off your box.  You could also add any cute embellishments that you want.

Hugs,

Anita
