House Slide Box Tutorial and Assembly Tips

Hello crafty friends! Michelle Zerull with you today to share my new favorite Lori Whitlock gift box called the House Slider Box. I love making little houses and this one is the sweetest because you can put little gifts and treats inside! I also have some decorating tips using Lori’s new paper line called, “My Favorite Fall”.

The digital cutting files for the box can be found at the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop as well as the Silhouette Design Store. It has some other cool features as well. so let’s make one together!

First you’ll need to cut out the house pieces with your digital cutting machine. While the house was flat, I glued the door and window in place. I inked my edges so that the score lines would be easier to see, but that’s not necessary for you to make a super-cute house.

Fold the house sides upward and glue to the front and back of the house. Set it aside.

The house “frame” is one long piece. Fold along the score lines and glue the tab to the inside as shown.

Add glue to the frame’s roof and glue the shingled piece in place as shown.

Now the house box will slide in and out of the frame, just like a matchbox. Isn’t that the cutest? Now let’s decorate it!

Lori has a new line of paper and embellishments from Echo Park Paper. The line is called, “My Favorite Fall.” It’s available at retailers now and it has the cutest elements! I discovered that one of the cut apart pages has elements that fit nicely on the side of the house. Look at all of the cute designs you can use!

I also discovered that the puffy stickers (Yes, Puffy Stickers!) are sized to fit this little house perfectly. See the sticker that says, “Thank you?” It fits over the little window. What a great way to show your gratitude!

I added some paper Apple Trees, which are really called, “Easter Scene Tree” to the photo, because every Autumn home should include some juicy apples! You can find the digital cutting file for the tree at the Silhouette Design Store, or as part of a bundle at the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop.

I love this little house so much. I can’t wait to decorate one or two of them for Christmas. They are going to be adorable in Christmas paper!

Have fun making your own little houses and have a great day!

Butterfly Lantern Tutorial

This week I discovered Lori’s fun Lantern projects in the Lori Whitlock SVG & Silhouette Shops! There are so many to choose from! I decided to make the Butterfly Lantern (SVGSilhouette), which cuts two on one piece of 12×12 paper.  This makes it really easy to make a bunch for a fun celebration or party favor.

Start by cutting all of the pieces for the lantern…

Add score tape or adhesive to all flaps of the lantern as shown here…

The lantern assembles similar to a box.  First fold all score lines inward with exception to the top, that will fold outward as shown…

Remove tape backing and assemble lantern as you would a box…

Next, use your bone folder to curve the lantern handle and attach with decorative brads…

Complete the lantern by adhering the butterfly layers together and gluing to the front of the lantern.  For additional dimension, I sewed my butterfly layers together and added a fun cherry pom pom to the side that I received from a friend.

I had so much fun making these and I hope I inspired you to give it a try.  Thank you for stopping by!

Pumpkin Shelf Sitter

Hi there crafty friends! Brandie here with a Fall décor craft tutorial. I love Fall, the colors, smells, and cooler temperatures. Another of my Fall favorites is pumpkins. I usually start pulling out my pumpkins this time of year. I want to enjoy them for as long as possible before all the Christmas holiday stuff shows up.

I used the pumpkins from the Pop Up Box Card Pumpkins (SVG, Silhouette). I like that the pumpkin segments are separate giving the pumpkins some depth. I cut two layers of chipboard and one layer of cardstock or pattern paper. When cutting the chipboard go slow and make several passes. I used my machine’s pre-programmed setting and did not have any troubles. The plaid paper comes from the new Echo Park My Favorite Fall collection.

The width of the large pumpkin is 11.5 and the width of the small pumpkin is 6.5. I used the Scotch tacky glue to glue each layer. Then placed a heavy book on top of the pumpkins while the glue dried. Before I assembled the pumpkins I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink. I then used tacky glue to assemble the pumpkin layers.

I tied some raffia and ribbons from my stash around the stems. I then glued the smaller pumpkin to larger one.

Now these cuties will be sitting on my bookshelf all season. I hope this project inspires you to use Lori’s cut files in your crafty décor pieces. Thanks for stopping by!

Tea Cup Box Card Cut File Assembly Tutorial

Have you seen all of the fun shaped box cards in the Lori Whitlock SVG & Silhouette Shops?  They look so pretty, and really are easy to assemble.  I fell in love with the new Teacup Box Card (SVG, Silhouette) and made a fall version using papers from Lori’s new My Favorite Fall Collection from Echo Park.  Shaped box cards are assembled in the same basic manner a Lori’s original box cards.  The difference is what makes up the “box”.

I started by cutting all of the pieces for this card…

Next, I glued the flower pieces to the inserts and the 3 solid decorative panels to the tea cup “box” base.  Do not glue the piece with slots onto the base at this point, the handle needs to be added before it is glued.

Next, assemble the handle.  Start by folding back the tabs at the ends of each handle and glue the two handle pieces together making sure not to glue the tabs.  Insert the tabs through the slots of the covering panel.  Flip the panel over, fold the tabs back and glue in place.  Then glue the panel to the card base.

Complete the card base by folding it into a “box” shape and gluing, tab inside.

The last part of the assembly is to add the inserts to the teacup “box.”  They are done in the same manner as the box cards in this video.  Fold the tabs back, and glue the number 2 insert into the cup.  The tabs should be flush with the top of the “cup” and touching the back wall of the cup.

Next add the number 1 insert in front of the number 2 insert..  The folded tabs should also be flush with the top of the cup.

It really makes such a pretty card!  It could be used for a birthday, friends or just because!

That’s it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Cupcake Box Card Cut File Assembly Tutorial

Hi everyone!  Corri here today sharing a quick assembly tutorial for the new Cupcake Box Card (Silhouette, SVG).  The shaped box cards in Lori’s shop are assembled in the same general way as the box cards in this video.    The main difference is that the “box” shape is different, but the inserts are done in the same manner.  For the Cupcake Box Card I started by cutting the pieces.

First, layer the cupcake pieces on the inserts and add the decorative top layer to the cupcake wrapper.

Next, apply glue to the tab on the cupcake wrapper to form the “box.”

Finally, apply glue to the tabs on the frosting piece inserts and glue them to the interior edges of the box, placing one in front of the other (insert 1 in front).  Make sure the tabs on both inserts are facing in the same direction.

These shaped box cards are so cute and they fold flat for mailing!  Lori just added a bunch of new ones to the shop so head on over and grab one.    They are so fun and easy to put together.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
