Large Haunted House

Today I’m sharing one of Lori’s Large Haunted Houses (Silhouette, SVG).  I really wanted a house that could be used for both Halloween and Fall, so I made the house in neutral colors, and attached all of the embellishments with magnets. That way can switch out the Halloween décor for Fall/Thanksgiving décor later.

Above are the Halloween décor items that have magnets on the back.

You can see the strips of magnets in this picture. I used washi tape to attach the banner.

I used Echo Park Paper’s Halloween Magic Collection. The cute characters in front are stickers from that collection. After Halloween I can swap out these embellishments for something more fall themed. This was so fun to put together.  This tutorial is for a different house but it is assembled in the same basic manner and will get you pointed in the right direction.

Have a great day!

Vinyl Tutorial – Hinge Method

Do you love camping? Or have people in your life that camp? Lori recently added some fun files that could be used for camping décor or even camping trailer décor.  I have several tubs that have camping gear in them. The bins aren’t labeled, and I thought using the camping file would be a fun way to “label” them.  I also added the same file to a white bucket.  The bucket can be used to stow camping items, and at night, well look what I did below!

For this project I used the Life is Better When You’re Camping File (SVG, Silhouette).  It can be difficult applying a large vinyl decal to a curved surface, I used a method called the hinge method. I’ve outlined how I did it below.

1. Cut and weed your vinyl. Apply transfer tape to your vinyl project.  Leave the backing piece on.

2. Place your vinyl on the surface, making sure it’s centered, leaving the backing paper on for now, and tape it down the middle with some painter’s or washi tape.

3.  Working on one side of the tape, peel back the transfer tape with vinyl, separating it from the backing paper.  Cut or rip the paper backing off.  I just rip the backing straight down.

4. Now you have one side of your vinyl ready to apply.  Smooth the vinyl to the surface. And repeat for the other side.

5. Burnish the vinyl to the surface before peeling back the transfer tape.

Repeat on all the surfaces.

With a white or light colored bucket, a light can be placed inside for a fun night time glow at the campground!

Now you are ready to vinyl all the things!

Beach Ball Card

Who is enjoying warm summer weather right now?  I’m giving some beach towels for a wedding gift, and wanted to make a card to go along with the theme. Lori’s Beach Ball Card  (SVG, Silhouette) was the perfect match!  To make it more of a wedding card, I created my own Congrats sentiment. Now the happy couple will be all set to soak up the sun!

1776 Shadow Box Tutorial

The 4th of July is approaching.  Do you love decorating with red, white, and blue? Today I’m sharing Lori’s 1776 Decor Shadow Box (SVG, Silhouette).  You can sing along to Hamilton lyrics while making this fun project.

To assemble, first cut all the pieces.

Next, adhere the decorative panel to the front frame and also adhere the stripes to the 1776.  I recommend starting with the top stripe, next the bottom stripe. Then place the second stripe parts on the number 6, and line up the other number stripes with that one.  This will help everything line up correctly.

You then want to glue the front and back panels together to form the “box”, and finally insert the 1776 panel into the frame, inserting the tabs on this piece through the slots in the “box”.

This will look lovely alone or as part of your patriotic decor!

Have a great day!

Tiered Mountain Box Card

There are still a few days before Father’s Day to make a card for your favorite dad.  I used a mountain box card file for a Father’s Day card.  I used some ink to make the background look like a sunset and I added a Happy Father’s Day sentiment. You could also use this card for any occasion for someone that loves the mountains.

You can find the A2 Tiered Box Card Bird Mountain File here in Lori’s SVG shop and here at Silhouette. The tiered mountains are really fun.

Have a great day!
