Silhouette Tutorial with Traci

Hi everyone!  It’s Traci here and, as I promised back on our October blog hop, I’m sharing a video tutorial on how I created the pumpkin page layout you saw on the hop.  Here is the original page (and thanks for understanding that my videography skills aren’t that great.  This was a first for me)!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Paper Dolls with Traci

Hi everyone!  It’s Traci and I have a fun little project for you to make for, or with,  your daughters, granddaughters, or any other sweet little girl in your life.  When I young, I loved to play with paper dolls.  I would mix and match their little clothes and hope they would stay on, since the clothes just had those little fold over tabs…remember those??  My favorite were the “Liddle Kiddle” paper dolls because sometimes they had magnetic clothes!
Well now, thanks to Lori,  you can create your own paper dolls and design their clothes with digital papers.  Even though I’m way past the age for playing with dolls, I had SO much fun creating these!
You will see when you download the cutting files for the dolls, that the dolls and their clothes are separate.  I created the dolls first, dropping in color fill for the skin, eyes and hair.  Next I grouped the pieces together and turned off the cut lines, except around the edge.  I printed the dolls out, cut them with my Cameo, and then cut them out of Silhouette’s chipboard again.  Backing the dolls with chipboard made them a little more sturdy.
For the doll clothes, I dropped some of Lori’s digital papers into the pieces first.  You can purchase her digital papers at Snap Click Supply   Just drag them from your computer directly into the shapes (using Designer Edition software).  Then do print and cuts for each piece!  This is really fun and you could involve your daughter or granddaughter in the color choices for each outfit.
As you can see, I also had fun adding ribbon, enamel dots, and bling to the clothes.  Finally, I attached a small piece of velcro to the front of each doll, and to the back of each dress so that their clothes could be interchangeable.

I hope you have fun with this little project!  Thanks for letting me share it with you today!

Silhouette Tutorial: Adding Stitch Lines and Embellishments

Hi everyone!  It’s Traci and I’m so excited to share a tutorial with you today!   For my project, I used several of Lori’s adorable shapes to create the cover for my latest “Artsy Albums” mini album kit.
As you’ll notice, I added some details to my green banner.  Here’s how I got the words to bend along the banner shape, and how I added those cute stitch lines.
First, find a banner shape in Lori’s shop … she has several really cute ones that you can add a title to.
Next, highlight your shape and go to the “Offset” window.  Create an internal offset and set the offset distance to .50.
Now, with your offset line highlighted, open the “Line Style” window and choose a dashed line and set the line thickness to .75.  With the line still highlighted, go to the “Line Color” window and select the color for your dashed “stitched” line.  I chose white for my project.
For the title, use the type tool to add a title for your project.  Highlight the title and change the fill color and size if desired.  Now, with the title highlighted (with green box around it) hover your cursor over the small circle with a cross in it.  Click on the small circle, hold it and drag the title over the curved line of your shape.
Release your cursor, and the words should pop onto your line as shown in the photo below.
Now, notice in the photo above, there is a little grey bar just to the left of the “E” in my title.  If you slide the oval part up and down the bar, your title should move up into your shape, rather than sitting right on the line.  See the photo below.
Now you can treat the shape as a print & cut.  Make sure to go to the “Cut Style” window and make sure the outer edge is all that will be cut.

Thanks for letting me share this fun technique with you!  If you are interested in seeing additional photos of this mini album, or purchasing the kit for yourself, please visit my blog at www.artsyalbums.com or my Etsy shop here.

Baby Nursery Decor with Traci

Hi Lori fans!
It’s Traci and I’m excited to be back on Lori’s blog to share a fun project with you!  This week I was scrolling through all of Lori’s wonderful designs and I came upon her adorable sleeping owl with the phrase “Naps Fix Everything”.  I smiled…and although I immediately thought how nice it would be to go take a nap, my creative brain decided this would make a cute door hanging for a baby’s nursery or to hang on the outside of a front door so that all of those well-meaning delivery folks wouldn’t ring the doorbell.   Now most of you know that I am way past the baby stage….my boys are 23 and 20….but I decided to create this as a little gift for a friend.

First I created the frame using Lori’s 3d Double bracket-shaped frame.  When you see the file, it may seem a bit intimidating…but don’t worry!!  It’s easy to put together once you have the shapes cut out.  Lori was even sweet enough to provide us with a You-Tube video for assembly.  You can find the video here!
For the rest of the project, I did several things.  I created a rectangular white base background and did a print & cut for the “Sshhh…Naps Fix Everything”.  Then I loaded another piece of white cardstock into my CAMEO, filled the owl and branch pieces with some of Lori’s digital papers, and did print & cut for those.  Once they were cut, I assembled the pieces with a few pop dots and added them to my base rectangle.  If you have never tried digital papers for print & cuts, I would encourage you to try them out!   It will save you from cutting up all of your cute scrapbook paper, and Lori has wonderful designs here.
So for all the moms out there who hope the delivery person doesn’t ring the doorbell, and for everyone else who knows someone who has had a baby, I hope I’ve inspired you to create a cute gift!  Happy crafting!!

Graduation Gifts with Traci

Hi Lori fans…it’s Traci here with some fun projects to help you congratulate your graduate!
I just love Lori’s box cards…and the nice thing about making them for graduation is that you can make them in the graduate’s school colors!  They are fun and easy to put together, and fold down perfectly for mailing in an A2 size envelope.  Won’t they look cute sitting on the graduate’s party table or mantel?  And these adorable pop-up box cards also make nice place cards for the graduation dinner table!
I paired one of the cards with a matching gift card box for an easy, but thoughtful gift.  Just cut three simple pieces from the Silhouette, adhere the pieces and tuck in a gift card — super easy and what a nice presentation!  Lori is a genius (smile).
Thanks for visiting the blog today…and if you know of a high school or college (or even kindergarten!) student that is graduating…have fun creating these for them!  Here are the links:
