O Holy Night Card With Mitsyana

Hello, Friends! Design Team Member, Mitsyana Wright, here and I’m back to bring you a quick, easy, and absolutely stunning Christmas card. If you’re anything like me you are nowhere near the end of your Christmas card list. And, if you’re stunted for time and need something easy to put together and don’t want to skimp on the “WOW” factor, you are in the right place, I have just the card for you!

For this card, I used Lori Whitlock’s #10 Nativity Block Card file. (here in the Silhouette Store)

To create this card I downloaded the file and extracted it zip before uploading it into my Ecal software.

Once the file was opened into my software, I noticed that it was too big to fit onto my 12″ x 12″ mat. So I “ungrouped” the images.

I also like to change the colors of each image to match the colors I plan to use.  This way I don’t get confused on what paper goes to what piece. Sometimes shapes look very similar in size and shape. Changing the colors on screen gives me a map of what goes where later.

Another reason to do this is that it will give me an idea of what my finished project will look like. I can see what colors work well with each other before I start cutting up my precious papers.

I ultimately decided to change the card base to a deep blue, the silhouette gold foil, a white mat, and a blue one.

I inserted my paper into my Sizzix eclips and cut all my pieces at the original/default sizes.

Notice instead of cutting a white and a blue mat, I cut two instead. Well, that’s because only one mat will remain white. The other I decided I wanted to use to create a night sky with.

I used my Distress Oxide inks to create a blended night sky.

Once I the blended colors to my liking, I dipped a paintbrush in clean water and flicked drops of water onto the card. The inks reacted to the water and created the stars in my night sky.

I layered the pieces onto each other and attached them onto my card front.

And here is my finished card…

I absolutely love how this card turned out!

I hope it inspires you to create some of these gorgeous cards yourself!

Thanks for stopping by!

Pumpkin Spice Everything with Mitsyana

Hello, Friends! How many of you are ready for Thanksgiving Day? Do you have a special feast planned? Any PUMPKIN on that menu?  Well, if you are like me you then you love all things Pumpkin Spice. In fact, you probably wait for this time of year to come just so you can kick up your heals and indulge in all things pumpkin spice related!!

Lately, I have really enjoyed coloring and find it very relaxing. So I used images from Lori Whitlock’s Pumpkin Pie Print & Cut Stamps set to create this CAS (Clean and Simple) Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING card!

Image 1

I started by opening my ecal software and creating my digital card front by opening each image and adding it to my virtual “mat”.

To get your images centered perfectly within your card shape, highlight the group of images (everything you want to be centered) and click on the “Align” button. Here’s the tricky part…Click on “H Align” to align images vertically, meaning images will line up in a row from up to down/ down to up… and “V Align” for images to align horizontally, meaning the lineup side to side.

I’m making a long A10 sized card, so I want them to be centered/ lined up vertically so I click on the center “H Align”.

Once I get the layout of my virtual card to the way I like, I duplicate the image. I  do this because I can make multiples of the same card or I have a back up in case I butcher my first attempt I have a spare. LOL

Don’t worry about the lines being there, these were just guides to remind me where the parameters of the card are. I intend to trim this off.

Then, I print from directly inside my ecal software. Click “File” on the menu bar and select “Print”. Easy peasy! I printed my images onto kraft cardstock using a laser printer. I used a laser printer as opposed to an ink jet because the ink is automatically heat set and will not run when if you plan on using markers.

I colored the little whipped topping with a white opaque marker. This would’ve definitely re-activated the ink if it was an ink-jet printer and it would have created nasty smearing and smudging.

For this project, I chose to color the rest of the images with color pencils. I love the way color seems to pop when applied to a darker paper. They almost look like they are glowing!

I printed another set, this time on white cardstock. Then, I cut out the banner pieces.

I ran the banners through my Xyron Sticker maker.  I then attached them to their matching digis on the kraft print.

I cut the Kraft card down to measure 3.75″ x 9″. I mounted it onto mirror cardstock measuring 4″x 9.25″. Then layer it onto patterned paper measuring 4.25″ x 9.5″.

I attached my card front to a 4.25″ x 9.5″ (folded) card base.

And here is my finished card.

I really hope you enjoyed today’s project and hope you have a very memorable and delicious Thanksgiving!!

Happy Crafting!!

Jack-O-Lantern Treat Boxes with Mitsyana

Hello, Crafty Friends! It’s Creative Team Member Mitsyana back again with Team Lori Whitlock! I have a cute Halloween treat for you… with these Jack-O-Lantern favor boxes! Halloween is creeping up around the corner and if you are a busy mommy like me then you’ll undoubtedly have to make classroom treats.

I have three school-aged kiddos and their classes have anywhere between 21- 25 kids in each.  That means this busy mama just got a little busier. So I need to make treats that are quick and easy but still have to super cute. I am so grateful for these SVG files from Lori Whitlock.  They take all the hard work out creating!

Supplies Used:

Gable Box Jack O Lantern Bundle
8 Fall Leaves 2
Patterned Paper (DCWV)
Xyron Mega Runner
Vintage Photo Oxide Ink & Blender Tool
Black Organza Ribbon
Mini Clothes Pins
Mixed Media Glue

You can purchase the Gable Box Jack O Lantern Bundle set in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop…Or  you can buy them individually from the Silhouette Store here:  Gable Box Jack-O-Lantern Small ,   Gable Box Jack-O-Lantern Medium, Gable Box Jack-O-Lantern Tall

I started by opening up my SVG file in my ecal software. I left the box sizes at its default setting for each box but removed the black panel backing. I like being able to see inside the little faces like little windows to give a peek of what’s inside.

These boxes were especially easy to put together. The boxes cut out in as a single piece and all you have to do is fold at the creases.

I used my Xyron Mega Runner to adhere the only side tab to the back panel. Then secured it down by burnishing it down with my bone folder. Tip: Folding the box down flat makes for easier burnishing.

Then, tuck the bottom flaps under and add adhesive to the inside of the very last flap to secure close. The boxes were all assembled to filled…  To close the treat box, just tuck the tabs into the side slots.  But I wanted to dress up my box tops… so I used Lori Whitlock’s 8 Fall Leaves 2 file to create a little topper.

Image 1

I really like this three-tooth leaf and I think it most resembles one that you would find on a pumpkin.  Since I was making many boxes I filled my mat with multiple leaves measuring 2.5″ and 3″.

I peeled them off my cutting mat then crumpled in my hand to add texture. Then spread the leaf back out and took my blender tool and inked the edges and raised ridges with Vintage Photo Oxide ink.

I glued bows made from black organza ribbon onto the top of my leaves and secured them in place with mini clothespins. When the glue set I clipped each leaf to the top of each box.  And here are my finished treat boxes…

Sweet Berry Basket Treats

Thank Hello, Crafty Friends!! Design Team Member, Mitsyana, here again! This time to bring you these adorable Berry Bushel Treat Baskets!

I love sweet treats! But what I love even more are sweet friends. So from time to time. I make these sweet friends sweet treats. Whoa, what a tongue twister! Try to say that 5 times fast!

Supplies Used:

Lori Whitlock’s Berry Basket (here in the Silhouette store)

Patterned Cardstock – DCWV’S Peri & Peach Stack

Little Birdie Crafts’ Renae Classic Flowers

Stamped Sentiment- Stamps of Life – Cake2Stamp

Light Pink Crinkle Ribbon

Xyron Mega Runner

VersaMagic Ink- Night Sky, Pink Petunia

Cellophane Bags

CHOCOLATES!!

Stamp Positioner (Optional)

For my project, I used this adorable Berry Basket file from Lori Whitlock’s SVG shop.

Berry Basket

I downloaded the file. Then extracted the contents of the zipped file onto my computer. Once unzipped and downloaded I can open it using my electronic cutter software.

In my ecal software, I clicked on the SVG/ Import icon to open/add the file onto my virtual cutting mat.

Once the file is open it’ll look the picture below.

Lori pre-sizes the files so there’s no guess work to how big the file should cut. But if you’re like me you like to resize your boxes because sometimes you don’t want a one sizes fits all deal. Which is totally fine too.

To resize a file make sure you file is set to “Keep Proportions”. This will option will be located in the ‘Portion & Size’ panel on the right.

I set the width to 8.75″. With the “Keep Proportions” box checked it automatically sets the height in proportion to the width.

As always, also changed the color of the pieces. This helps me to remember which pieces I’m going to cut in what paper. I sort them by color so that all pieces being cut out the same paper are grouped together.

I load my mat with my paper choices and cut all the pieces at the same time.

Once all my box pieces were cut, I inked the edges of the scalloped tops with Pink Petunia chalk ink. Then used my Xyron Mega Runner to attach them to the tops of the main panels. It’s easier to attach these pieces while the panels are laying flat.

Then I folded the flap on the crease lines. I used a dollop of glue on the tiny side tab and adhered the two side panels together. Then ran glue along the bottom flaps and attached the bottom rounded square piece.

The berry basket file also comes with the little label you can add to the front. It’s optional whether or not to use it. But it does give it a nice little touch.

I used a stamp from Stephanie Barnard’s Cake2Stamp set that reads ” You’re SO Sweet” onto the label in Night Sky chalk ink. The sentiment fits perfectly onto the label (even when resized). I knew I may have needed to re-stamp my sentiment a few times so I placed my label in a stamp positioning tool and stamped it about 3 times. This helps to ensure that I get exact placement each time.

I placed a bag of chocolates (you can use your fave) and tied it off with crinkle ribbon. Then attached these adorable pre-made paper flowers from Little Birdie Crafts’ Renae Collection.

And here is my finished box…

Here are the 2 different sizes I made standing side by side…

These are absolutely beautiful.

These treats are sure to wow all the sweet people in your life!

Hope you enjoyed today’s project!

Until next time…

Happy Crafting!

Scottie THANK YOU Cards

Hello, Crafty Friends!! It’s Design Team Member, Mitsyana, back to bring you these quick and easy (and  SUPER CUTE) Scottie Thank You Cards.

In light of current events, sitting her crafting during Hurricane Harvey, I am compelled to make Thank you cards. It’s always a good thing to tell people just how grateful you are. Even a little gratitude goes a long way!

These Scottie Thank You(s) come together so quickly that I was able to make them in different colors! I like being able to have an arsenal of cards at my disposal at any given moment!

To make these I used Lori Whitlock’s A2 Cutout Scottie Dog file. (here in the Silhouette Store)

I opened the file using my Sizzix ecal software and grouped the pieces by color for easier cutting. It helps with out having to reload the mat for each color used. And as long as all the pieces fit on my mat I can cut them all at once.

I decided not to use the pre-scored card that came included because I wanted to change the direction the flap opened. So, I removed it off of my virtual cutting mat.

The card front is sized to a standard A2 card so me changing the direction of the card fold will not affect the overall look or assembly of the card whatsoever.

I cut all my paper using my Sizzix eclips machine. Then used my Xyron Mega Runner to layer and adhere the pieces together.

I used a glue pen to attach Scottie’s little bow then added highlights to it using a white gel pen.

I used a fine-tipped black ink pen to draw stitch lines around the perimeter of the stamp-shaped card mat.

I pieced the tiny flag sentiment together then added stitch lines along that as well.

Once the card front was pieced together I used my Mega Runner to attach it to my card base. This time the card flaps from top to bottom instead of side to side.

As a last minute touch, I added a little glitter enamel dot to the center of Scottie’s bow for a little bling.

Here is the finished card…

And it was so super easy to make that I decided to make it in other colors as well!

It looks great in brown!

And it’s absolutely fabulous in teal!!

These are so much fun to make!

I think I need to make much more… I have many people I want to send thanks to but this is a great start!

Hope you enjoyed my project for today!

“Thanks” for stopping by!!
