You’re The Best Pop – Tutorial

Hello everybody! Marcia here today. I thought I would do a tutorial on this adorable popcorn box card. I made this Father’s Day Popcorn box card (SVG, Silhouette) for my Dad. I have fond memories as a child of him taking my siblings and I to the movie theater. Now that he is older, I am the one who is taking him out to the movies.

This tutorial is based on Silhouette Studio, but there are parts applicable to all different cutting machines.

After opening the file in Silhouette, you will want to ungroup all the pieces. If there is a printable sentiment, set your print registration marks in the Page Setup Menu. This lets the software detect where your cut lines should be in reference to the printed text. Ungroup the text from the shape surrounding it and move the shape to cut outside of the print registration marks. Select the printer icon to send the text to your printer. After printing, mount the paper in the upper left corner of your mat and load the mat into your Silhouette. Move the shape to cut back around the text. Now select the text and move it away from the shape to cut. Send to Silhouette to cut. Cut the rest of the pieces from whatever desired cardstock or pattern paper you like.

Before assembling the pieces together, I like to ink the edges of some pieces to make them look more dimensional. I selected a yellow and light brown here for inking my popcorn edges.

After inking, assemble the popcorn box and the card inserts. I used pop dots behind some popcorn pieces for added dimension.

Adhere the card inserts to the inside of the popcorn box, placing the popcorn insert in front of the sentiment insert. Use more pop dots to adhere the filmstrip slightly behind the sentiment.

Lori has lots more Father’s Day cards in her shop. Go take a look. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Shadow Box Card Friends

Anita here with a card that I made for a dear friend who is moving away to be closer to her daughter and be in a warmer climate.  I wanted to give her a special card which reflected the importance of her friendship to me.  I made this 5X7 Shadow Box Card Friends which you can find here in Lori’s SVG Shop and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I used one of Lori’s new Echo Park Paper collections called A Slice of Summer to piece it together.  This card folds flat for mailing and is sure to add some cheer to a friend’s day.

If you need help with assembly, Lori has a video here.  That’s it for me today.  Thanks for looking and have a great day.  Be sure to check out Lori’s other beautiful friendship cards.

Hugs,

Anita

Happy Mother’s Day

Hello everyone, Marcia here. With Mother’s Day looming, I thought I should make my Mom a Mother’s Day card. This pretty Mother’s Day Pop-up card (SVGSilhouette) with all those beautiful spring flowers was perfect. I used the I Heart Crafting collection (mostly the solid papers) along with some American Crafts cardstock.

All of the Lori Whitlock Pop-up cards do fold flat for mailing in an A2 envelope. There are even YouTube tutorials to walk you through making them. What I love most about these pop-up cards is that they look so pretty displayed on a table or countertop!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week.

Flower Tricycle Box Card

Hello everybody, Marcia here today. I spent last weekend cleaning out my flower beds, uncovering the green sprigs poking their way up through the dirt and getting the beds ready for planting some new annuals. I think Spring has finally arrived to Minnesota! Maybe the long winters make me appreciate the flowers more. Anyway, I was in the mood to create some flowers and this Flower Tricycle Box Card (SVGSilhouette) made me smile. I love the profusion of bright, colorful flowers. I used the Lori Whitlock A Slice Of Summer solid color papers along with some American Crafts cardstock.

I used an embossing folder to create a woodgrain appearance on the baskets. Some Nuvo drops add dimension to the centers of the flowers. This card adds a definite Spring vibe sitting on my desk and it folds flat in case you want to mail it off to someone.

This fun card will fit into a 5×7 envelope for mailing.   Don’t worry… there is a YouTube tutorial to walk you through the assembly. There are lots more Spring card designs in the shop. Be sure to check them all out. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week.

Anniversary Rose Box Card

Hello crafty friends! Aimee here with you and today I want to share this beautiful box called the Box Card Rose Box (Lori’s SVG Shop, Silhouette). This little beauty folds flat for mailing but I decided to give the blue one to my hubby for our anniversary. This box card could really be for any occasion but when I paired it with Lori’s newest wedding collection called Our Wedding it screamed anniversary to me.

I chose to make 2 different ones with the main colors of the collections…dusty rose and robin’s egg blue. And while making these cards I was thinking of all the possibilities with different colors or even making these rose flowers into shakers.

Hope everyone is enjoying all of the fabulous new SVG files from Lori like I am!

Have a great day!
