Fall Shadow Box Tutorial with Brandie

Hi there friends! Brandie here with a fun project to get you in the mood for all the Fall things! Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, smells, and most importantly the cooler temperatures! ( I live in the desert of Arizona)  For this months project I also challenged myself to use something from the August 2018 Kit of the Month. I picked the Shadow box 11.3×11.3 6 windows. (SVG, Silhouette)

Lori has a great video tutorial on how to assemble the shadow boxes here. I watched it a couple of times to get a good idea on how to assemble the shadow box.

I used Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock for the frames. This cardstock is extra thick and worked beautifully. I used Scotch tacky glue to glue everything together. (except for the outside bottom of the frame.)  After I had the smaller frames lined up in the correct spot I used my scissors to press the insides tabs down to get a good seal on the glue.

For the outside of the frame I added some dark brown twine  to the top of my frame so that I can hang the shadow box. I also used extra strong double sided tape for the last outside section of my frame. I wanted to be sure I had a good quick adherence for the inside tabs I wouldn’t be able to reach with my fingers or scissors.

The front and back of the shadow box is covered with papers from the Celebrate Autumn collection by Echo Park.

Once I had my shadow box assemble I went on to the embellishing. The flowers on top of the shadow box are a sunflower (SVG). I kept them pretty simple. I used a golden brush pen to draw some lines on each petal. I pinched each petal lightly then bent up the end of each petal. I then glued each segment down one on top of the other. For a little added bling I used a brad from the Echo Pack Celebrate Autumn collection for the center of the sunflower.

The paper pumpkins are from the Pop Up Box Card Fall Pickup. (SVG, Silhouette).  I resized them to fit into the window. I also used the tree from this card in the window with the hedgehog.

For the falling leaves window I used the trees, fence, and oak leaves from the  Flexi Card Fall Scene. (SVG, Silhouette)

All of the remaining windows are filled with stickers, tags, ephemera, chipboard, and papers from the Celebrate Autumn collection by Echo Park. The little resin pumpkin, pinecone, acorns, and berries are from floral picks I purchased from Hobby Lobby.

Anita here with an adorable lunch bag teacher treat holder.  I used Lori’s cut file called Lunch Bag Thank You Teacher and you can find it here in her store and here in the Silhouette Store.  I used Lori’s brand new collection from Echo Park called Celebrate Autumn. I used her wood grain embossing folder to give the bag some dimension.

This was so easy to create and would fit a gift card perfectly as well as some chocolates.  A little gift to the teacher to get the year off to a great start.

Welcome Back Cathy Harper!

Hi everyone!  So after a couple year hiatus from the scraping and designing world, I am beyond thrilled to be back designing for Lori Whitlock.  I have missed this team so much and the chance to design with the greatest cut files and paper collections.

I had a lot of fun this week working on some cute summer projects with Lori’s files and her paper collection Let’s Be Mermaids from Echo Park.

Bear with me on the photography, it’s been a while since I’ve edited projects and I have a whole new scrap room and still trying to figure out the best lighting and such.

First up, I have a Shell Flexi Card. (SVG, Silhouette)  This was so much fun to make, super easy and who wouldn’t want to receive this little card with just a bit more pizzazz with the flexi shape.  I just cut it out with my silhouette and used the paper, embellishments and stickers from the Let’s Be Mermaids to complete.  I can’t wait to try more of Lori’s Flexi cards.

Next,  an Intricate Cut Thank You (SVG, Silhouette)!  This card is simple and gorgeous, all you have to do is add a background paper and cut the the scallop oval frame.  I cut two frames and popped one up with adhesive pop dots, just for a bit more dimension.  Then a just added twine, enamel dots and some small vellum flowers with Lori’s 3 mix and match flowers (SVG, Silhouette).

Lastly, I have just a fun little box card.  Loving all the fun patterns and colors in the Let’s Be Mermaids collection.  Soon summer will be gone, so I enjoyed creating with the bright colors and summer files.  This is the A2 pineapple box card (SVG, Silhouette).  Quick and easy, and perfect to send to someone special to brighten their day.  It goes together in just a matter of minutes.  I love little projects that are a breeze to make.

As I said before, I am thrilled to be back with Lori and her amazing team.  She has so many new files that I can’t wait to try and lots of gorgeous new collections coming from Echo Park.  I am one happy girl!
