Hello there, it’s Brigit, I have a fun heat transfer vinyl project to share today. When I saw Lori’s homemade gingerbread phase (here in the Silhouette Design Store) I knew it would look so cute on one of the potholders from the Dollar Tree.
I used white siser easyweed heat transfer vinyl, it cut out beautifully and so easy to weed. To apply I used my new Cricut Easy Press which worked like a charm, but an iron works well also. These are quick and inexpensive gifts for Christmas time, I can’t wait to make more.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!
Will the heat transfer come off or “melt” when a hot pan is set on the iron-on transfer? Was wondering how it would hold up under everyday use? Super Cute idea!
Super Cute gift idea! I love it.
It should be fine Anita, you really use the other side of the potholder to grab onto the hot pan.
Love it. Fun gift.
This is such a wonderful gift idea!
Great project, Brigit!
Great project! Did you use a pillow in the pocket to protect the backside–or isn’t it a concern?
Linda, I used a piece of cardstock in the pocket when I pressed it. Also I used a Steady Betty pressing surface, works great!
What temperature did you use and for how long? I tried this with my easy press but I can’t get the vinyl to completely stick
Jennifer I did mine at 330 for 30 seconds and I held it down with some pressure. I have it on a wood cabinet and use a 16″ x 16″ Steady Betty as my pressing surface. I also did a print transfer with it and that came out great too.
