Creative Team Projects by Mendi and Brigit

Today we have a special treat by having 2 of our talented Creative Team Members sharing projects with us. First we have Mendi, her blog is here if you want more info…

Today I have a new layout up on Lori Whitlock’s blog using her adorable Sweet Girl Collectionshe designed for Echo Park.  I thought for a slight change of pace I would try a layout where diecutting would take on more of a complimentary role to all the cute embellishments that come with this fun collection.

With my addiction to diecuts I must admit that sometimes I have an adversion to stickers (particularly ones with a white border), but with a little fussy cutting I was able to trim the banner border and one of the pinwheels to fit my style perfectly.  This line has so many adorable images.  Love the dimensional hot air balloon!

For my title I cut out the word “happy” from the patterned paper, inked the edges and popped the squares up with foam tape to carry out the Scrabble tile feel.  The word “girl” was diecut using Lori’s My Girl Titles cutting file.

I also used her Banner Flag Set which I elongated by welding the pennant to a rectangle of the same width.   To anchor my title I used an enlarged label from her 14 Labels set paired with a couple of darling brads from the collection.

Next we have Brigit sharing her first project on the blog.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I thought this cute card and box from Lori’s shop would make a wonderful gift set.

I chose digital paper and elements from Echo Park’s For The Record 2 Tailored, I love the flower pattern, the colors are beautiful.

For the Mom Shaped Card I used some elements from the paper collection and one of the flowers from the Layered Flowers Set 2.  The pretty pink and cream bow is Trendy Twine’s Posy.  This card also comes with an envelope.

Love this Window Treat Box, it comes with the matching bracket tag.  I added the internal offset shadow layer and did a print and cut on my Cameo for the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment.  The same flower was used from the Layered Flower Set 2 on the tag.  The box is tied closed with some homemade pink crinkle ribbon.

This week Lori is launching Sweet Memories Elements, Sweet Memories Paper and the entire kit, the Sweet Memories Collection. These are so beautiful and a great way to add an eclectic vintage feel and design to your projects.

And finally, are you ready to meet our new digital creative team?

We had SO MANY applicants, it was so VERY hard to choose. Thank you, to ALL of you that applied. We were blown away by the amazing talent in our readers. I would have loved to add you all, but managing that would have been a full time job in itself and Lori needs my help in other ways too. PLEASE continue to share on her Facebook page as we love to see what you are creating and on occasion we are able to showcase our wonderful readers projects. Please tune in Monday for our Paper Creating Team.

First to introduce is the amazing and talented Kim Lund. She is the writer of Documented Life Now and so graciously is sharing her digital talents with us when she isn’t too busy being a mom or teaching an Autistic Preschool Class. In my book she has already earned angel status. I have an Autistic son and all of his teachers are truly angels in my life.

Her first creation, as a member of our team, is this adorable layout using the Sweet Memories Collection. So beautiful!

Her favorite layout using Lori’s products is this adorable Easter Project Life page.

Next, we would like to introduce the talented Haley Ney. She comes to us from Indiana where she works as an Ultrasound Tech and has a passion for photography, baking and digital scrapbooking. When she isn’t being showcased here, her projects can be seen at The Ney Life.

Her layout using the Sweet Memories Collection is so fresh and clean, makes me wish Spring was here now! Stunning Haley!

Her favorite project is this adorable Project Life layout using Lori’s Spring Celebrations Collection.

And finally, the third member of our digital creative team is the scrapbooking guru Chrissy Guido of New Jersey. I first ‘met’ Chrissy at Jessica Sprague, where she worked as a Creative Team member and made beautiful layouts with Lori’s products. Her blog, Scraponi Digi Pages houses all of her creative goodness.

I love the way she layered all of the borders and shapes on her layout. This is so beautiful!

Her favorite project is this Happy Birthday Layout using Lori’s Life Cards Birthday Girl Collection.

I find it funny/ironic that all 3 of them shared a Project Life style layout with us without knowing the others had picked the same style. I think many of us around here have been bitten by the Project Life bug.

Thank you again for all those who submitted and for these wonderful ladies that made projects with VERY little time. Lori and I (Lisa), are SO excited to have these talented ladies with us. Please leave them some love in the comments below and come back again Monday to meet our new Paper Creative Team.

Thanks for joining us, Lisa.

So I am guessing that there are a lot of you out there that have been bitten by the “Project Life” style of scrapbooking and I have to say that it really has a lot of appeal to me as well.  I feel that with my current style of scrapbooking that I focus more on the design and less on the story.  Which is okay because I use scrapbooking as my creative outlet as well as a way to do something with all of the thousands of pictures that I have taken of my family over the years.  But I also see the benefits of “telling the story” and with the “ProJect Life” style of scrapbooking I feel that I have an easier time doing that.
So, with all of that said, have you seen all of the cool Life Cards that Lori has in her store? There are so many different options, but I also want to show some ways to be creative with these files and “make them your own!”
The following picture shows a closeup of the title, Remember This.  This card is actually a combination of two different files, a frame and the Remember This title.  I sized them to fit each other and then welded them together so that it cut out as one piece.  You can also see another embellishment that I created in this picture.  I took one of the labels from the file 3 Labels, cut it out with my Silhouette from a couple patterned papers and stamped the words, “Taking It All In” from an Ali Edwards stamp set.  Then I cut out the word “wonder” from the layout file, Wonder Layout.
This picture shows how I used the arrow files to create a 3×4 filler card.  I ungrouped the arrow file and drew a 4×3 rounded rectangle around them.  The arrows that overlapped the edges, I either deleted or moved around to fit into the rectangle shape.  I cut it out and attached it to a piece of patterned paper.
In this picture I have a close up of my journal card. I used a premade card from the Boy’s Life patterned paper collection and added some journaling using my Silhouette.  This is a new trick that I learned recently and I am totally hooked.  I need to perfect the technique a little bit more but I am so excited about the possibilities.

First of all, I must mention, Lori and I were SO overwhelmed by all the applications for our Creative Team. We are working on it, I PROMISE, but not quite there yet.  When that much talent invades your inbox, you need some extra time. We haven’t forgotten you and will have an answer soon.

Today on the blog we have Mendi sharing her talents with us.  (Lisa)

Mendi says… Today I have another 2-page 8×8 layout that I made for my Mother-in-law’s mini album to share. I was so happy to discover that Echo Park’s “About A Boy” papers designed by Lori were a perfect match for my photos!
To create my title I turned to Lori’s LW Tall Font and I love that it’s tall and skinny nature fit the space perfectly. For my journaling box I combined her 12×12 Background Circle 3 with the heart from the Valentines set.  To finish my project off I repurposed her reindeer shape for my little fawn cut from the wood grain patterned paper.  I must admit it makes me giddy when I’m able to re-use Christmas and Valentine’s Day shapes on a non-holiday layout.  🙂
