Print and Cut New Years Eve Party Favors by Tya Smith

Hi blog friends! Thank you so much for stopping by during this crazy time of year! It’s great to have you here! My design style is based on simplicity! I adore a quick and easy, yet super creative idea especially during the busy times of year – So today, I thought I would share with you a couple of New Years Eve party favors. One of the main reasons why I love using Lori Whitlock’s files is that they are darling (of course) and they are so easy to put together. I also utilized my Print and Cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo – another time saver for me and a great way to use some of my favorite digital papers from Lori’s collection. Let me show you what I did!

All papers are from the Birthday Fun Patterns Digital papers found on Snap Click Supply.

I did a french fry style box for my Midnight Kisses favor. Add a few Hershey Kisses to the bag, tie a bow and you are set!

The label on the front highlights one of my favorite new fonts called LW Curious- isn’t it darling! I also added some enamel dots for some dimension as well.

The next favor was originally a candy holder, but what New Years Eve celebration is complete without a little confetti? I added some fun star shaped confetti to the inside of the box.

One little change I did to this file is that when I went to tie the tuelle, there was a big hole in the box ends that the confetti would leak out of, so I just added a 3/4 inch circle punched from cardstock to cover the ends up.

So hopefully I have inspired you to whip of some of these fun little favors for your New Years Eve festivities.

If you have kids at your party, how fun would these be for them? Thanks for stopping by, and stop by my blog http://simply-tya.blogspot.com/ and say hi! Happy Holidays!

Little Black Notebook

I have a stack of black paper that doesn’t cut very well on my Silhouette machine. It tends to tear. So, I was trying to think of a use for it. My girls like to doodle and love crafts. I decided to make them some unique notebooks for Christmas with black paper and give them a white pen with their books.

I decided I wanted the covers to have a fun chalkboard graphic. I thought they’d LOVE to have their names on them, so I proceeded to design the cover artwork. (You could use any phrase or graphic from your library.)

Next, I loaded black paper into my Silhouette. I replaced the blade with one of Silhouette’s white sketch pens. Then, I changed the cutting setting to SKETCH PEN.
While that was sketching,  and used a paper cutter to trim down the black paper to the desired size. I cut 1 piece of gorgeous Sliver Glitter DCWV paper, from this pad, and 2 pieces of chipboard for the front and back covers.

When the art was done sketching I cut it down with my paper cutter and used Mod Podge to adhere the cover and back cover to the chipboard pieces.
Last,  I used my Zutter to cut and install the wire binding.
And, that’s it. What a simple little project made out of things I already had in my craft room. All I had to purchase was the white pen. I really hope my girls enjoy these little notebooks and that they are not reading this blog post until after Christmas! : )

Layout by Mendi + Canvas by Traci

Today we have two beautiful projects to share with you by Mendi and Traci. First to share with you is Mendi.
I’m so excited to finally be sharing this layout today!  I actually started this one back in May and was just waiting for the perfect moment to share it between all the Summer and Fall themed occasions.  For this project I turned to my all time favorite collection of Lori’s called Summer Days which she designed for Echo Park, along with a number of her awesome cutting files.

I’ve had this photo of my daughter in my photo box for nearly 4 years waiting for the perfect rainbow inspired layout to use it on.  As soon as I saw Lori’s doily cutting files I knew it would be so much fun to cut each one from a different color for a clean and simple layout.  I love the way they look cut from the different solid colors from the collection!

If these shapes look like a bit of fun to cut out, you would be correct.  They definitely leave their fair share of confetti on your cutting mat so make sure to have a scraper or old gift card handy to get all these little guys off. These beautiful doilies were more than worth the tiny bit of extra effort though.  😉

To complete my layout I used the following cutting files available for purchase in Lori’s Shop:
Next up we have Traci with a beautiful wall hanging.
Happy Fall everyone!  Do you love this time of year as much as I do?  The colors of the leaves, the cooler temperatures, the sweaters … love sweaters!  I have a great home decor piece to share with you today since fall is officially here.  Lori’s 6×8 Canvas set is such a fun project and so versatile — you could make one for each season!  The cutting file comes with even more than you see here — not only are the two hanging “canvases” included, but 4 different mat shaped backgrounds are also in the file!  You could hang two like I’ve done here, or hang three, or even more!
The paper collection is one of my favorites this season — Echo Park’s Reflections Fall, designed by Lori.
I also love Lori’s title “A Thankful Heart is a Happy Heart“.  You can find it with 4 other fall titles in Lori’s shop, or in the Silhouette shop.
Thanks for letting me share this canvas wall hanging with you!  Please stop by my blog and say hello today!  I’ll be giving away a $10 Silhouette download card to one lucky winner!
Have a wonderful week!
