A2 Insert Card Bundle 4

Hi there paper crafting friends!  It’s Michelle Starcher, aka the Bookish Designer, popping in on the blog today to show you four cards I made using the A2 Insert Card Bundle 4 When I saw this card bundle debut last week, I knew I had to have it.  It contains 14 different designs for several different occasions.  Each design is available individually in my SVG Shop and the Silhouette Store as well.

For my first card, the A2 Insert Card Big Thanks (SVG, Silhouette) I went pretty traditional and used the file as intended.  When opening any of the SVG files in Cricut Design Studio, there are three different options for cutting the sentiment.  One option is to cut the sentiment as a part of the card (bottom).  The other two options are to cut just a card front (top-left) and to cut the words only (top-right).  Each file includes an insert that can be used with any of the sentiment options (pink).

For the majority of the cards, I used only the card front because I knew I was going to have multiple layers for my card fronts.  I ungrouped the elements in the file and deleted the sentiment options I wasn’t going to use.  For this first card, I stayed pretty simple in my design.  I used patterned paper for the sentiment and a contrasting solid for the insert.  I inked up the edges of the pattern paper a bit, and adhered the pieces to a white, cardstock card.  (Both the patterned paper and the cardstock are from Lori’s All-Girl collection from Echo Park Paper Co. )

The next card I made was the CELEBRATE shaker featuring Lori’s America collection from Echo Park Paper Co.  For this card, I cut the A2 Insert Card Celebrate (SVG, Silhouette)  card front and trimmed the card front down to remove the insert tabs.  Next I trimmed a photo flip to the same size as the CELEBRATE sentiment card front.  I used foam adhesive tape along the edges to create my shaker.  After adding glitter, sequins, etc., I closed up the shaker by adhering it to the layered card front.

For the A2 Insert Card Big Wishes (SVG, Silhouette), I used double-sided cardstock.  This allowed me to cut multiple card fronts at the same time.  Once again, I ungrouped the files elements and left only the card front.  For this card, I made a duplicate copy of the file and flipped it horizontally, so that I had a mirror image.  This allowed me to get two different colored card fronts from one piece of double sided cardstock.

I did this twice with two different pieces of  double-sided cardstock to have the yellow, red, blue, and green you see on the card.   Again, I trimmed the insert pieces and layered the yellow front on a piece of patterned paper and adhered to a white, cardstock card.  I used foam tape to adhere the BIG letters to the card and my Xyron sticker maker to adhere the birthday wishes letters to the card.  I have enough pieces to make four cards just like this one.

For my final card today, I create a camouflaged sentiment by layering the letters cut from the card front.  I inked the edges and used foam adhesive, so that the A2 Insert Card Hey You (SVG, Silhouette)  sentiment would stand out a little bit from the background.  This card features Lori’s All-Boy collection from Echo Park Paper Co.

I really love the versatility of  the A2 Insert Card Bundle 4 , and I can’t wait to get back into my craft room to make more cards using this set.

Until next time,

Michelle, aka the Bookish Designer

Hello Summer Bicycle Shadowbox

Hello all you crafty friends…and Happy Summer! I have an adorable craft for you today to make and set on your desk to enjoy Summer without having to endure the heat. This is the Hexagon Shadowbox Bicycle (Lori’s SVG Shop, Silhouette), one of Lori’s new svg files. It is soooo cute sitting here on my desk. I just love all of the different layers!!

If you’d like to make one of your own, I’m here to help! So let’s get started!

Cut out all of the pieces. I used a thick white cardstock for the frame (at least 80lb for sturdiness) and normal cardstock for all of the colored layers. Once I had all of the balloons, trees, and bicycle pieces cut out I adhered them to the layer pieces.

Here is a closer look at those pieces.

Next, adhere the tabs together on each piece of the main frame and let it dry.

Now we can start assembling the shadowbox. Adhere the light blue cardstock piece to the back of the base piece. Bend all of the glue tabs…solid base piece tabs fold upwards and the insert layering pieces along with the front frame tabs fold downwards.

Adhere the outside frame to the back piece of the box.

With the layered piece tabs folded down, insert and adhere them to the box. Tree piece is adhered first. Make sure you are adhering the layers so that the tabs are touching the piece behind it. You need to make sure you still have enough room for the top frame tabs.

Next adhere the balloon piece to the box.

And then the bicycle piece.

After all of the layers have been adhered into the box, there should still be enough room to adhere the top frame tabs to the inside of the box. Adhere the top frame (tabs go inside )on and wait for it to dry.
Then decorate to your heart’s content!! I simply added a Hello Summer title chipboard piece from the I Love Summer collection.
Hope you have fun putting this fun shadowbox together!!  And don’t forget, the July Sale is happening in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop!  Get 30% Off All SVGs when you use code JUL2020 at checkout!

Bible Study Journal Tutorial

Hi Everyone:

Anita here with a bible study journal that I made for my father.  He has not been able to go to bible study for various reasons over the last several months and is eager to get  back.  I made him this journal so that he could take it with him to make notes.  I used the SVG cut file from Lori’s shop that is called Pray Hardest and you can find that file here in Lori’s SVG Shop and here in the Silhouette Design store.  I also used the file called 3 Christian crosses which you can also find here in Lori’s SVG Shop and here in the Silhouette Design store.  For papers, I used Lori’s Echo Park Paper collection, All Boy.

Here is a photo of the materials that I used for making this journal.

I measured the journal cover and it measured 7.5″ X 9.75″ so I cut my front and back cardstock to that size.  I decided that I wanted the spine cover to be 2″ wide so I cut that by the 9.75″ length as well.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to create this project and did resize it once I measured the size that I would have available to decorate on the front of the journal.  I resized it to 8.250″ X 6.767″.  I used a wet adhesive on the covers because then I would be able to move the paper around until it was perfect.  I then opened the journal and trimmed with small scissors around the rounded edges of the covers.

For the pen I took the end of the pen off and took out the ink shaft.  I then measured the length that would be able to be seen when the  pen was together.  I cut my paper 1″ X 3″ and rolled it around a paint brush handle.  You basically just need to get it started rolling in a circle.  I then slid it into the pen shaft, put the ball point ink shaft back into the pen and screwed back on the end cap and my pen was done.  I used 2/5″ diameter adhesive dots to adhere the pen to the spine of the journal.

I hope that it brings a smile to his face when he sees his new bible study journal.

Hugs,

Anita

Cookie Box

Welcome to the first Monday in July! Ashley here, and I am so excited to share this Cookie Box (SVG, Silhouette) with you today.  Do you ever want to give a little something to make someone’s day brighter?  One of my favorite treats are the special cookies that several companies local to me sell.  And now there is a Cookie Box that can hold them.

This box is a great size.  It is a 4.5 inches square and 2 inches high. It is best to adhere the decorative panels to the box top before you glue the glue tabs. You can fill the box with a cookie or another treat and deliver some cheer to someone. Enjoy the week.

Have a great day!

Fireworks Display

Hi there friends! Brandie here with a tutorial for a cute 4th of July Fireworks Display (SVGSilhouette) These fireworks are so fun and simple to make. They can be added to a vase, mason jar, or even a fake potted plant like I did here.

First fold all of the score lines as mountain folds (away from you). Then glue the decorative panels in place. (I glued the long side tab first and then glued the decorative panels which made this step a little harder for myself.) Glue the long side tab creating a octogon shaped tube. Working from left to right glue the top tabs together until you have two tabs left. The last two tabs can be glued together at the same time. Pinch the top points together then flip the firework over and use a pencil or paint brush handle to secure the tabs on the inside of the firework.

Now its time to embellish the firework, curl the tails, then using hot glue add a paper straw or bamboo skewer to the inside of the firework.

I resized the firework and made two smaller ones. The paper collection I used is America by Echo Park Paper Company.

That’s it for me today. Thanks for stopping by!
