Calculator Card

Hello friends! Today, I’m excited to share a fun project that I made with one of Lori Whitlock’s amazing cutting files called Box Card Calculator School. I was inspired by the back to school season and I thought this calculator shaped card was just so cute. Check out it’s little face. I love it!

Calculator Box Greeting Card with Apple, Pencil, & Star

For the base of the calculator, I used an adorable star paper called Balloons from Echo Park’s, A Magical Place collection (designed by Lori Whitlock). For the apple, pencil, and the star I chose some of the solid papers
from Echo Park’s, Fun On The Farm Collection (also designed by Lori).

The box has space in between the layers where you could hide a small note, a gift card, or money but since there’s no bottom to the card, you would need to add a little tape.

This would be a fun surprise to hide in a student’s back pack or lunch box on their first day. It would also be perfect for a teacher or … a co-worker that’s great with numbers. What a nice way to brighten their day.

The card folds flat so it can be placed in an A2 envelope, sent through the mail or stored as a memento. For help with assembly, see this shaped box card tutorial.  Lori has so many awesome cutting files. I hope you’ll give this one a try! You can find this file in SVG format in Lori Whitlock’s shop here and in the Silhouette Store here

Back to School Projects as Easy as ABC

Hi there paper crafting friends!  It’s Michelle Starcher, aka the Bookish Designer, popping in on the blog to share some easy back to school projects using Lori’s School Rules collection by Echo Park Paper CoThis week, I focused on apples for the teacher and made three different projects that are perfect for saying “Thank you” to your child’s teachers.  I used three different files including the Sticky Note Easel Card Apple (SVG, Silhouette), the Gift Card Holder Apple (SVG, Silhouette), and the Apple Favor Bag (SVG, Silhouette).

Although all of the projects are super cute and easy to put together, I think my favorite is the Sticky Note Easel Card (SVG, Silhouette).  This cute easel card features an apple that stands up behind a sticky note pad. What a fun gift/card for a teacher! You can personalize it by writing a short message on the sticky notes before giving it to the teacher.

If you have any teacher friends or relatives in the field, you know they spend A LOT of their own money decorating their classrooms and supplying materials for various learning experiences.  Consider helping out with the purchase of a gift card from Target/Walmart or your local teaching supply store.  The Gift Card Holder Apple (SVG, Silhouette) features a pocket for a gift card on the inside. It’s a great way to show teachers your support for all they do.

Finally, the Apple Favor Bag (SVG, Silhouette) can be used when giving candy or other treats like hand sanitizer, chapstick, lotion, etc.  I added a sentiment from the School Rules collection for a personalized touch and used foam tape to give the apple and sentiment a little pop.

If you are looking for super cute teacher gifts for back to school or teacher appreciation, I suggest you check out Lori’s collection school themed cut files.  You can find a variety of cards, favor bags, and other projects to celebrate the new school year.

Until next time,

Michelle

Box Card Coconut Drink… with a Twist!

Where is the summer going?  I can hardly believe that we are in the second week of August.   I fell in love with Lori’s Box Card Coconut Drink (SVGSilhouette).  I used some of Lori’s Echo Park Paper collections including Wish Upon a Star and Endless Summer. For my “twist”,  I used a bendy straw and two-sided tape on the straw to adhere the twine.  Next, I glued the bent straw to the straw outline on card SVG.  It worked perfectly !  There are so many ways to kick your creations up a notch and I was happy to share this one with you today.  Here is a photo of the card flat and ready for mailing.

And don’t forget, Lori is having a sale in her SVG shop through Saturday.  Get 30% off All SVGs, Fonts, Pattern Fills and Commercial Licenses when you use code AUG2022 at checkout!

That’s it for me today.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Welcome To The Farm Mini Album

Hi everyone!  I’m so excited to share this little mini album created from Lori’s Pop Up Barn Card (SVG, Silhouette). I had so much fun creating this and added so many fun details!  I used Lori’s Echo Park Fun on the Farm collection for my project!

I started by opening the file and ungrouping it, saving the barn shape, the white doors and window.  I enlarged the card to be 4.5 x 6 inches.  You will need to cut 4 red barn pieces and two sets of the white doors and window.  One is your front cover, one is the inside of the front cover, one the back cover and the other will be for your stitching template and book ring template!

On of your template barn shape, you will do an internal offset and then go to line style, change it to the biggest stitched line.

Then using a Silhouette Sketch pen, I used black so that I could see it well, send it back through to draw the stitched lines.  This will create your template for stitching.  You can use the stipple on your machine too to create stitching holes but my cardstock was to heavy to really see the stippled holes….my eyes are getting old! Lol.  So this is what worked best for me.

I just pierced the lines on the sides of the barn so that I could add a bit of chain stitching to accent the cover. Place the barn piece with the stitched lines over another barn shape and pierce your holes.   I recently attended an event with the amazing and beautiful Paige Taylor Evans and she taught us to chain stitch.  I am head over heels in love with the stitch and technique.  I added the chain stitching to the little “Welcome to the Farm” tag too.  I just pierced the holes evenly around the circle!

After I was done stitching, I adhered one of the barn pieces to the back for the front cover, so it has a nice finished look to the inside, and that way you can’t see the back of the stitching.   Next, it was time to punch my book ring holes.  Again, place the barn piece with the silhouette sketch pen lines over all your pages, one by one, and punch your holes.  I punched in 1/2 inch for my two book rings. I have seven pages in my book, but you can make more or less.  I just had that many photos of my grand daughter’s visit to a farm.

I love how this turned out.  Eeeeeek!  It’s so cute and the Fun on the Farm collection is just adorable and so much fun!

I added lots of fun with ribbon, beads, a fun tassel, sunflower charm and even a cute little chicken bead up on top there!

I’ll just share a few of my pages here and I’ll share the rest on my blog.

This French fry card is a perfect card for all the fry lovers, summer birthdays, and loves in your life (SVG, Silhouette). This A2 card is only a few layers and is easy to assemble.
