A Mason Jar Shaker Card with Cathy

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share how I took one of Lori’s shaker tags and made it into to a card.  I love the trend right now of shaker tags and cards, so much fun.  I adore Lori’s new Celebrate Winter collection from Echo Park and immediately a shaker card came to mind with all of the lovely blue shades in the collection.  I started with this shaker embellishment, you can find the here on Silhouette or here at Lori’s shop.

I turned this super cute file into this shaker card.  I adore how it turned out and it was super easy to do!

Open the file, and enlarge it to 16.75 x 18.75, by doing this it will make you mason jar just about the size of regular A2 card.  After you enlarge it, separate your mason jar, ovals, and windows. That way you can make your card base.

Follow the step below, you could add a score line where the jars meet but I just used my scor-it to do that.  Why add an extra step?  Lol.

I cut extra lid shapes so that my card would just have that extra dimension.

I backed my window with white card stock and then you layer all of your windows, use a good adhesive, you want a good seal so that none of your sequins fall out.  I always repurpose a piece of clear packaging for my clear window part.  So layer all of the window shapes, except one, fill with sequins and such, adhere your clear window, and then one more window goes over the top. Then just adhere all of your lid shapes.  All that’s left to do is embellish your card… I used some of the Celebrate Winter Collection from Echo Park to embellish.

I love how this turned out…this is simply one of the cutest collections for winter ever!

New in Shop: Valentine Mailbox 2

Have you seen the new Valentine’s Mailbox 2 file in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop and in the Silhouette Store?  This adorable little mailbox is so cute, and it holds a little treat… take a peek…

The door secures closed with little tabs so it’s easy to package up a little something!

You can use the little key to pull the door open to reveal the treat inside!

This cute little mail box is pretty easy to assemble!  See the steps below to put it all together!

1. Cut pieces and add decorative panels to the mailbox base and door. I added 1/4″ score tape to the tabs.
2. Add the door to the mailbox base by tucking the tab to the back of the base piece and securing with adhesive.
3. Use the edge of your table or a dowel to curl the mailbox top, and adhere to mailbox base.  Add the handle by inserting into slots and gluing in place.
4.  Add the bottom piece to the mail box base, folding the mailbox base around it and securing.  Fold up the final side of the mailbox and secure.
5. Add the top shoot inside support piece inside the box, flush with the bottom score line of the mailbox opening.
6.  Bring mailbox top up and around the top of the base, gluing the tabs inside the box to complete.

New Year’s Photo Card with Kathy

Happy New Year Everyone!  The holidays are always so much fun, but sometimes it feels like there’s so much going on that you can’t fit everything in!  Christmas cards are one thing that often gets pushed off the to do list!  It’s not always easy to get a photo of the family together  before the holidays and then you need to find the time to either make or order the cards and mail them!  Well, who says you can’t send out Happy New Year’s Cards??  Friends and family will definitely appreciate the sentiment and your creations will not get lost in the pile of cards sent at the holidays!  I created this fun card using Lori’s new Hello 2019 File (SVG, Silhouette)

I used the print and cut feature of my Silhouette to print out the Hello, and the Happy New Year sentiments.  I cut the 2019 from Silhouette Gold Foil Sticker Paper and added it to the card.   Hint… to place the stickers correctly, I cut the 2019 from regular cardstock and used the negative spaces as a guide for my stickers.  It really went together quickly!  If you create any New Year’s Cards using Lori’s files, be sure to tag @loriwhitlock on Social Media!  We would love to see your designs!  That’s it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
