Lighted Shadowbox Decor Santa Tutorial

Hello friends, Marcia here. I am sharing a tutorial on the blog today for the new Holiday Lighted Shadowbox Decor pieces. You can purchase a bundle Here that includes a Turkey, Santa, Reindeer, Elf, Snowman, and a Nativity Scene. I made the Santa (SVGSilhouette) and boy is he spectacular!

These are pretty easy to assemble. Let me show you how.

1. Cut out all the pieces from the desired pattern paper or cardstock. Be sure to scroll in Silhouette Studio to see all the pieces. There are 4 inserts, side panels, and a decorated front and back. We will assemble the side and back first Adhere your pattern paper panels to the cardstock back and sides.

2. Glue one side panel in place, adhering it to the tab with the four slits and then each tab working your way around to the other tab with four slits on the opposite side

3. Let’s assemble the front panel. We are going to start with Santa’s face. The white paper goes behind the black. That goes behind the flesh-colored face. Last, attach his eyebrows over each eye.

4. Adhere the black belt pieces on each side and the bottom of the beard. This allows you to fit the face piece in just so tucked under the mustache. Once the face is in there, go ahead and adhere the hat brim down along with the white pompom. Lastly, add the mustache.

5. We are ready to assemble the inside of the shadowbox. Take the back panel with the moon and start and slide the tabs through the slit in the back on each side. You want the hole in the back piece to be on the bottom.

6. Repeat with the other inserts.

7. Once the inserts are in place we can adhere the final side in place the same as the other side.

8. Adhere the front Santa panel to the front of the shadowbox. I did this a few tabs at a time. Then your Santa is ready for some lights or if you prefer you can leave it as is.

Tuck Lid Gift Box Reindeer Tutorial

Today I’m sharing a quick tutorial featuring Lori’s new tuck lid gift boxes.  You can find the SVG bundle here. I’m making the reindeer box today (SVG, Silhouette).

First cut out your pieces.  There is one box piece and the rest are reindeer pieces.

First build the reindeer.

Place the face pieces as shown and adhere the pieces to the reindeer backing.
Adhere the hat pieces.

Next fold the box piece on all the score lines, then unfold. Adhere the reindeer piece to the box piece.

Next fold the sides of the box and adhere the glue tab on the inside.

Next adhere the bottom of the box piece.  Save the largest flap to adhere last.

Leave the top of the box with no adhesive.  So you can add a gift or treat.

And that’s how you put together the tuck lid gift box.

These boxes are new and on sale this week, so grab a few to create.

Tiered Bracket Mini Album

Hello friends! We’re into the Christmas season so, I thought it would be fun to make a holiday mini album using one of Lori Whitlock’s amazing cutting files called Tiered Album Bracket (SVG, Silhouette). It‘s perfect for your favorite photos from the season, and … it would make a sweet gift idea for someone special.

I love making shaped mini albums and Lori has lots of great cutting files with unique silhouettes to choose from. This one caught my eye with its pretty waterfall pages. To decorate it, I chose Doodlebug’s Gingerbread Kisses Collection.

Now, on to how I made it …

First, the cutting file comes with the base pages and the inset pieces for cutting pattern paper.  One tip when cutting out the patterns … be sure to position your pattern on the cutting mat so that it will be cut in the direction you want!

I love how the patterns cut perfectly sized to allow a nice 1/8″ border of white (or whatever color base you choose).
I decorated my pages with card stock mats and embellishments and love how the waterfall design let’s some of the fun elements peek through!
The pink page above is an example of what I meant about cutting the correct direction for your paper.  Since I wanted my pink hearts to be right side up, I flipped my cutting file design in the software to “flip vertically”.  You could also just place your paper upside down on your mat 🙂
Lori has several fun waterfall (tiered) album designs in her shop … curved, flag, pennant, pinking, rounded, tabs, scallop, ticket, and wave shapes!  I love them all!

I hope you’ve been inspired to try one of Lori’s tiered albums!  They would make a cute gift for Christmas, and a fun way to display your holiday (or any day) memories!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Recipe Pocket Flip Frame Tutorial

I have such a fun holiday tutorial for you today.  This little gift idea goes together in no time.  To start you need a 4×6 photo frame like this.  I got this one at At Home.

Next, I cut 6 Library Pockets (SVG, Silhouette) from Lori’s Have A Holly Jolly Christmas.  All different patterns.  It’s such a fun collection.  And it’s the perfect collection for Christmas recipes!
Next, fold on score lines and adhere to create your pockets.  I did not cut any of the inserts because there are inserts in the collection to use.
Once you have all your pockets put together, get a couple of book rings and your hole punch.
I measured 1.25 inch from each side and .25 inch from the top.  Put all your pockets on the rings and hook on to your frame.
I added these 4×6 cards from the collections for my inserts and on the back I added recipe cards.
Then I just added embellishments and some sewing.  I love how this turned out, it’s a fun little holiday gift!
