June Link Up with Cathy

Hi everyone!  Cathy here with you hosting this month’s link up party with my favorite Lori Whitlock files from her SVG Shop and the Silhouette Design Store.  To be eligible to win this month’s link up party you must use one of Lori’ files.

My very favorite part of being on Lori’s creative team is all of the amazing shaped cards she creates.  They are all so cute and so much fun!  Everyone loves to receive a shaped card, just so unique and special!  This month I used Echo Park’s Summer Bliss designed by Lori..a gorgeous summertime collection.  I created two cards to share with you today!

They are just too cute!

I used Lori’s Blender Shaped card for my first card, you can find this card on the Silhouette Design Store here.  I used my Silhouette Sketch pen around the inside of the yellow just to set it off a bit and inked all the edges in coordinating colors.  I couldn’t resist popping up the yellow to give it some more dimension and then adding the sequins just for fun!

I just adore these cards, there are lots of new ones this past week and you have to check out Tya’ post here with the toaster and scale cards.  So cute.  My second card is the lemonade glass shaped card and you can find the link on the Silhouette Design store here.  I used the same color scheme to match my blender card.  Again, using the sketch pens to enhance it just a bit and more fun sequins, then finished with a real paper straw for more dimension!

Thanks for joining me today! I hope you are inspired to created some summer fun with any of Lori’s files…anything summertime goes!  Link up and play…we can’t wait to see what you create and you could win a $15.00 gift certificate to Lori’s SVG Shop.

Kitchen shaped cards with Tya

Hi there everyone! It’s Tya here to share with you a couple of new and adorable shaped cards that Lori has designed. I fell in love with them the second I saw them and knew I wanted to design some right away!

I decided to make the scale and toaster shaped cards and to add a little fun twist – I added a cute little “punny” sentiment on the inside using a few of my favorite fonts designed by Lori.

The first card is this adorable toaster. I used the Toaster Shaped card (found here in the Silhouette store)

On the inside I used the Nested Labels Set 3 (found here in the Silhouette store) and the LW Skinny Type Font (found here in the Silhouette store).

For this card I used the Vintage Scale card (found here in the Silhouette store).

On the inside I again used the Nested Artisan Label and this time I used the darling LW Be Mine font (found here in the Silhouette store).

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! Hopefully I have inspired you to pick up these new adorable cards and have some fun designing them!

A Little Birthday Gift with Kathy

Hi Everyone!  It’s Kathy today with a sweet little birthday card & gift set!  I used two new files from Lori’s Shop, the A2 Sliding Candle Cupcake Card and the 2 Boxes on a letter sized page files.  Combined they make a such a nice gift.  Take a peek:

In the Silhouette Store:  card file, box file

The papers are from Lori’s new I Love Sunshine collection for Echo Park.  The colors are so bright and cheery!  I love how you can put your sentiment on the candle of the card; It slides up from the cupcake.  I used Lori’s Cheerful Sketch font and my Silhouette Sketch Pens to write Happy Birthday.  The box is just the right size  for a small gift.  I put 4 Hershey’s Treasures in mine!  And that little bow is the perfect finishing touch!   That’s it for me today, thanks for stopping by!

Print and Cut Label Tutorial with Traci

Hi everyone, it’s Traci and I’m back with a quick and easy tutorial for making print and cut labels. I do a lot of scrapbooking, but when it comes to cards, I usually find myself scrambling to create one for a special event at the last minute. So I decided to create a bunch of labels to keep on hand.

Lori has a brand new set of layered labels available, and as soon as I saw them, I knew they would be perfect for my project. I’ll walk you through the steps to create these so let’s get started.

Step 1: Assuming your printer is for 8.5” x 11” paper, resize your paper in your software. I have the Silhouette Designer Edition, but I believe most of these steps will work with the original software also.

Step 2: Show your registration marks so that your printer and Silhouette machine talk nicely to each other.

Step 3: Add your first label design to the mat and right click to ungroup the pieces.

Step 4: Layer each piece of the design on top of each other. Now go to the “Align” window, highlight all the pieces of the design, and click “Align Center” so that all of your pieces are stacked evenly. Note that on some labels you may need to “align center” and “align middle” to get the pieces all stacked up evenly.  Now, right-click, group, and then resize the label to the finished size you desire.

Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 for each label.

Step 6: Once your labels are all stacked and sized the way you want them, highlight all of them and go to your cut setting window. Select the “Cut Edge” style so that only the outer edge of your label gets cut.

Step 7: Now here is a fun part. Let’s add some monograms and sentiments to our labels. Using the Type tool, add a monogram letter or phrase to one of your labels. Resize it to fit inside the label and then go to the “Color Fill” window. Highlight the text (this is key!) and then click on the eye dropper tool in the color fill window. Hold the eye dropper and drag your mouse over the colors on your label. You will see the eye dropper “picks up” the color you hover over. Once you decide on a matching color, release your mouse and the color will fill your text with a perfectly matched color for the label.

Step 8: Each time you add a phrase or monogram to your label, be sure to highlight the text, go to the “Cut Settings” window, and select the “No Cut” option. Once that is done, print your labels and cut them out. Now you have a whole set of beautiful labels to quickly add a sentiment or monogram to a card or other project!

Lucky Me with Kathy

Hi Everyone, it’s Kathy today with fun gift set to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!  You’d never know from my name, but I come from a long line of Kelley’s, Barrett’s, Doyle’s & McDonough’s so St. Patrick’s day is a big deal around here!  Take a peek….

I combined the new St. Patrick’s Day Phrases file and the Center Panel Step Card to create my card.  And of course you need some kisses if you’re Irish so I combined the 3D Hot Cocoa/Coffee Mug with some Clovers from the Five Clover Shamrocks File to create a fun “Kiss” holder.  I can’t wait to give it to my favorite Irishman!!  That’s it for me today, thanks for stopping by!!
