Doodlebug Design Cut File Feature: Fun in the Sun

Hi Everyone!  Today I’m showcasing another fabulous project using Doodlebug Design’s cut files!  This travel-themed layout was created by Kathy Skou for Doodlebug Design!

Layout by Mendi + Canvas by Traci

Today we have two beautiful projects to share with you by Mendi and Traci. First to share with you is Mendi.
I’m so excited to finally be sharing this layout today!  I actually started this one back in May and was just waiting for the perfect moment to share it between all the Summer and Fall themed occasions.  For this project I turned to my all time favorite collection of Lori’s called Summer Days which she designed for Echo Park, along with a number of her awesome cutting files.


I’ve had this photo of my daughter in my photo box for nearly 4 years waiting for the perfect rainbow inspired layout to use it on.  As soon as I saw Lori’s doily cutting files I knew it would be so much fun to cut each one from a different color for a clean and simple layout.  I love the way they look cut from the different solid colors from the collection!


If these shapes look like a bit of fun to cut out, you would be correct.  They definitely leave their fair share of confetti on your cutting mat so make sure to have a scraper or old gift card handy to get all these little guys off. These beautiful doilies were more than worth the tiny bit of extra effort though.  😉

Happy Fall everyone!  Do you love this time of year as much as I do?  The colors of the leaves, the cooler temperatures, the sweaters … love sweaters!  I have a great home decor piece to share with you today since fall is officially here.  Lori’s 6×8 Canvas set is such a fun project and so versatile — you could make one for each season!  The cutting file comes with even more than you see here — not only are the two hanging “canvases” included, but 4 different mat shaped backgrounds are also in the file!  You could hang two like I’ve done here, or hang three, or even more!
The paper collection is one of my favorites this season — Echo Park’s Reflections Fall, designed by Lori.
I also love Lori’s title “A Thankful Heart is a Happy Heart“.  You can find it with 4 other fall titles in Lori’s shop, or in the Silhouette shop.

Creative Team Projects by Mendi and Brigit

Today we have a special treat by having 2 of our talented Creative Team Members sharing projects with us. First we have Mendi, her blog is here if you want more info…

Today I have a new layout up on Lori Whitlock’s blog using her adorable Sweet Girl Collectionshe designed for Echo Park.  I thought for a slight change of pace I would try a layout where diecutting would take on more of a complimentary role to all the cute embellishments that come with this fun collection.

 

With my addiction to diecuts I must admit that sometimes I have an adversion to stickers (particularly ones with a white border), but with a little fussy cutting I was able to trim the banner border and one of the pinwheels to fit my style perfectly.  This line has so many adorable images.  Love the dimensional hot air balloon!

For my title I cut out the word “happy” from the patterned paper, inked the edges and popped the squares up with foam tape to carry out the Scrabble tile feel.  The word “girl” was diecut using Lori’s My Girl Titles cutting file.

I also used her Banner Flag Set which I elongated by welding the pennant to a rectangle of the same width.   To anchor my title I used an enlarged label from her 14 Labels set paired with a couple of darling brads from the collection.

Next we have Brigit sharing her first project on the blog.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I thought this cute card and box from Lori’s shop would make a wonderful gift set.

I chose digital paper and elements from Echo Park’s For The Record 2 Tailored, I love the flower pattern, the colors are beautiful.

For the Mom Shaped Card I used some elements from the paper collection and one of the flowers from the Layered Flowers Set 2.  The pretty pink and cream bow is Trendy Twine’s Posy.  This card also comes with an envelope.

Love this Window Treat Box, it comes with the matching bracket tag.  I added the internal offset shadow layer and did a print and cut on my Cameo for the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment.  The same flower was used from the Layered Flower Set 2 on the tag.  The box is tied closed with some homemade pink crinkle ribbon.

I love hot air balloons so when I saw Lori’s new hot air balloon card I couldn’t wait to make it. 

This card goes together very easily and would be perfect for almost any occasion.
I used paper from Echo Park – Hello Summer collection which Lori designed.  I love the bright colors on this collection.

Next we have Amanda sharing with us this adorable layout.

I created this page to document the fact that although my little cat likes to pretend she’s grumpy, we often catch her snuggling and grooming our other 2 cats. She’s a big softie, really!

Wedding Layout by Mendi

I seriously cannot get over how cute Lori’s “Love Story” line by Echo Park is, so when I saw this adorable layout by Mendi I was already in love. I have mostly boys and don’t like the ruffly girly look all the time but this collection and layout totally rock in my eyes. Mendi says…

For today’s layout I turned to more wedding photos that were just begging to be scrapbooked after over a decade of sitting in my photo box!  Lori has so many great heart shapes that I had fun mixing and matching in different styles and sizes.  I was excited to discover that the damask heart set is nearly a perfect match for the black and white patterned paper found in the Love Story paper collection!  Check out my blog today for more tips on getting extra mileage from border cutting files like I did on this layout.”
