Valentine Birdhouse Tutorial

Hello Crafty Friends, today I want to share a Valentine themed Birdhouse I made using the Double Decker Birdhouse from the Lori Whitlock 5 Birdhouse Set (SVG).
The original file has one bird but I wanted to add another bird to make them look like love birds, so to start off with I copy & pasted the bird. Then I horizontally flipped the bird so that it was facing the original.
I did the same with the bird on the branch, then I used the knife tool to make 2 cuts to separate the bird from the branch. I then deleted the branch & used only the bird to cut.
After cutting all my pieces on my Silhouette Cameo & put together my birds onto the branch. You will need to trim the excess branch from the back panel of the extra bird we created before glueing him onto the main branch.
Next I took the larger part of the house which is the bottom & glued the side flaps together.
Once these were dry I proceeded to glue down the roof first by glueing down the bigger piece then following the smaller roof piece on top.
Next I took the smaller bird house & glued the side flaps together. Then I glued it down onto the bottom half of the birdhouse that we have already put together. Once this was dry I finished off by glueing the 3 roof panels starting from the largest on the bottom.
Lastly I embellished my Birdhouse with some die cuts, stickers & paper roses.
Isn’t it the sweetest!

3D Single Cut Birdhouse Tutorial

Hi everyone! Lori has some new single cut birdhouses in her shop. Have you seen them? You can find them in the SVG shop (Tall, Birdhouse)  and the Silhouette Design store (Tall, Birdhouse).  You are going to love these fun birdhouses.  The main house is from a single piece.

First cut out all the pieces.

Next, crease all the folds for the house.

Attach the panels. Pay attention to the direction of the roof panels.

Layer and adhere the flower pieces.  Then apply adhesive to the glue tabs and attach the house piece together.  Add the floral piece to the front.

These are so fun and easy to put together.  I used paper from Echo Park’s Year in Review Collection designed by Lori.

Enjoy! Ashley

Explosion Birdhouse Box

It’s that week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Do you take down your holiday décor? Start organizing? Thinking of projects and goals for the  new year?  I have a fun project today that can be used as a gift or as a place to store some favorite notes or pictures.  The majority of my project was made using the Explosion Box Birdhouse (SVG, Silhouette) along with the insert from the Pocket Explosion Box (SVG, Silhouette).

I needed more flaps for the project, so that is why I add this inner flap.  When adding other pieces to projects, keep in my how the pieces will interact.  Since this inner flap will take up some space, it’s a good idea to slightly resize the bird to be just a little bit smaller.

I can’t wait to fill the little pockets with notes and photos!

Have a great day!
