Swimming Through the Summer

Hi there paper crafting friends!  It’s Michelle Starcher, aka the Bookish Designer, popping in on the blog to share the shadow box I made using Lori’s Slice of Summer collection by Echo Park Paper Co. I love all of the different shadow box cards available in Lori’s shop. There are so many great summer variations, including the Shadow Box Card Swimsuits (SVG, Silhouette).

I assembled the shadow box card using the new and easy method. In the new shadow box design, the card base has side slits and the inserts easily lock in place with tabs. When you are assembling the Shadow Box Card Swimsuits, insert the Cloud slide in the back.  The sun goes in the middle and the grass slide goes in the front. Be sure to watch Lori’s “Shadow Box Card” video tutorial for assembly instructions.

Lori has so many wonderful summer-inspired files available in the shop, and I know you will find something you can’t live without. Happy crafting!

Until next time,

Michelle

3D Camper Tutorial

Hello crafty friends! Aimee here and I’m ready to share a tutorial on how to assemble the ever so adorable 3D Camper Father’s Day file (Lori’s SVG Shop, Silhouette).  As you can see this is clearly not a Father’s Day camper but a Summer camper. It really could be made for any season or occasion. So kick your flip flops off at the door and come on in my sweet camper and let me tell you how I made this!

To get started I picked out some beautiful papers from Echo Park Paper’s  A Slice of Summer collection and cut out all of the pieces.

Before I started assembly of the camper I adhered some of the pattern paper pieces to it. Start by folding on the score lines as it helps guide where to adhere the bottom camper pieces. For the windows, adhere the light blue pieces on the inside of the camper and then the curtains will fit just inside the boxes on the camper shell.

Then adhere the outside frames to the windows and door.

Next you will want to adhere the tabbed pieces to the main body of the camper piece. Lay pieces out and adhere them just as shown in the picture below.

Lift these pieces up until they meet and adhere them together. Next use your hands to shape these pieces to the contour of the camper shape and then add your adhesive to the solid tab on one side and every small tab piece on one side and adhere it to the main body piece of the camper. When that side is dry adhere the other side down.

The last piece is the hitch. The main piece is simply folding it and adhering the two pieces that are similar with one over lapping the other. Take the other piece (rectangle) and roll it up on the handle of a small paint brush. Adhere the end and roll it over to keep the entire piece adhered together. Then adhere the two pieces together.

Then adhere the completed piece to the bottom of the camper.

And now your camper is complete and ready for some embellishments. I found some butterfly stickers in my collection and sprinkled them around because that’s how it is in my perfect camping world! LOL!!

Use this as a happy decoration in your camper or as a centerpiece at a Summer BBQ…how cute would that be? This is fairly good size of decoration that measures 8.50″ tall and about 8″ wide and I promise you it will stand out no matter what you use it for.

That’s all from me today…how you all enjoy!

July 4th Block Flag

Hello crafty friends! Looking for a quick and fun way to decorate your home with some July 4th décor? I am so excited to share this project because it looks so stinking cute on my foyer table with some other Independence Day items!

This is the 4th Of July Block Flag (Lori’s SVG shop, Silhouette). Measuring at 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″, it is the perfect size to decorate with. Although this file could be resized to be larger or smaller to fit your need.

I used the America collection from Echo Park Paper for the papers which turned out perfect. For the star, I used the size provided in the file and then added another smaller sized which is layered using pop dots. Then I added a twine bow to the star, a button, some ribbon, one of the banners that I found in the 6×6 paper pad and voila!! Cuteness! I love this piece!!

That’s all from me today! Hope you all enjoy this look at the 4th of July Block Flag!

Tiered Mountain Box Card

There are still a few days before Father’s Day to make a card for your favorite dad.  I used a mountain box card file for a Father’s Day card.  I used some ink to make the background look like a sunset and I added a Happy Father’s Day sentiment. You could also use this card for any occasion for someone that loves the mountains.

You can find the A2 Tiered Box Card Bird Mountain File here in Lori’s SVG shop and here at Silhouette. The tiered mountains are really fun.

Have a great day!

Memorial Day Window Box with Handle

Hi there paper crafting friends!  It’s Michelle Starcher, aka the Bookish Designer, popping in on the blog to share the gift box I made using Lori’s America collection by Echo Park Paper Co. I love all of the different boxes and gift ideas available in Lori’s shop, and I eagerly watch my inbox on Tuesdays to see what new products are hitting the store.  A couple of weeks ago, Lori debuted a brand new collection of awesome gift boxes, and I knew I had to have them all.

Today, I am sharing the Window Box with Handle (SVG, Silhouette) I made as a gift box for those attending my Memorial Day cookout.  I wanted to make the box a little larger than the original file, so I enlarged it to approximately 13.4″ by 14.6″.  If you are going to resize one of Lori’s files, make sure you all of the pieces are still grouped or selected before you adjust the size uniformly by dragging the corner of the grouped pieces.  This will keep the ratio the same for all of the pieces.

Once I resized the file, I sent it to my Silhouette Cameo to cut.  I inked the edges of the pattern paper before I adhered them to the box panels.  Once all of my pattern pieces were in place, I added the clear plastic acetate to the box to create the window.  (For some reason, my Cameo didn’t like cutting the acetate, so I ended up cutting that piece using my paper trimmer instead.). Once all of the pieces were in place, I assembled the box, which turned out pretty darn cute.

Lori has so many wonderful gift boxes available in the shop, and I know you will find something you can’t live without.

Until next time,

Michelle
