Chick Favor Box with Kathy

Hi Everyone!  Spring and Easter will be here before you know it!  Lori has a number of new favor boxes in her shop, and this adorable Chick Favor Box (SVG, Silhouette) is perfect for Spring gift giving!

The box is really simple to assemble, just fold up the sides of the box and glue in place, then add the embellishments. I added some wiggle eyes for my chick box… because everything is more fun with wiggle eyes!  The box is the perfect size to hold a small gift or bag of treats.  Lori has a bundle of these cute Animal Favor Boxes here in here shop and they are also available individually in her shop and the Silhouette Store.

That’s it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Cut it Out! Tips and Tricks with Michelle

When using our electronic cutting machines, we often forget that our most valuable tool is our scissors. Hello crafty friends! Michelle Zerull here today to share some simple ideas to stretch your SVG files even farther.

3D Paper Spring Shed House with SVG files by Lori Whitlock

A few years ago my husband bought me this cloche for my Birthday. I love making little seasonal things to fit inside, but it is an odd size. If you recall, Lori designed the cutest set of Haunted Houses, “Haunted House Tall” was perfect for this project.  (you can find the file in Silhouette Design Store or at the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop)

I love the tall, skinny shape, but I can do without the spider for Spring.

A few quick snips to the details after they were cut on my Cameo. Voila! No more spider! It was super easy!

I also used my scissors on the 1 Piece Flower Cluster Border. (found in the Silhouette Design Store)

Flower Cluster Border

Isolating the individual flowers and cutting them out with my machine would’ve taken forever!

So it appears that cutting with scissors, a skill we all learned in Kindergarten, really is a great way to stretch our SVG’s even farther. I added an accent from Lori’s “Spring Fling” line by Echo Park Paper and a cute 3D flower (found in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop and the Silhouette Design Store) and my cloche is ready for Spring!

Keep those scissors handy!

Leprechaun Banner with Brandie

Hi there friends! Brandie here with a fun holiday banner. I enjoy making banners and my little guy gets a kick out of the cute characters and images of the season. This banner came together really quickly.
I used the Leprechaun Face (SVG, Silhouette), Pot of Gold (SVG, Silhouette), Shamrock cluster (SVG, Silhouette), and the 3D Flower 29 (SVG, Silhouette). For the leprechaun and pot of gold I converted the cut files to a print and cut on glossy photo paper. The shamrocks and flowers are cut from cardstock.

That’s it for me today. Thanks for stopping by.

Easter Treat Favor Box by Aimee

Hello friends! Aimee here with you today with a tutorial on using Lori’s new sketch images to create this sweet little Easter gift bag. I choose a couple of adorable images from the Sketch Easter Bundle that you can find in Lori’s Shop here or in the Silhouette Design Store (rabbitflower). I also used this new Favor Box that can be found in Lori’s store here or in the Silhouette Design Store here.

Open the images and add an offset image around each image. I resized the offset to 0.050. After you have the offset image, highlight both images and group them together so they are easily moved around. The black lines are the sketch lines and the red lines are the cut lines.

Once I had both images with an offset cut grouped, I measured them against the box svg to make sure  they were appropriately sized.

For those of you who are new to using Silhouette sketch pens, here is a Silhouette tutorial for using them. A big HINT when using the sketch pens and then cutting them out is NOT removing your cutting mat after the image is drawn. Leave the mat in place and then switch over to the blade and let your machine cut the image out from your paper.

Here are my images after the sketching and cutting are complete. Now comes the fun part of decorating them. I used Lori’s new collections Easter Wishes and Spring Fling  on this project because the colors and patterns are so fun and vibrant

I fussy cut one of the eggs out of pattern paper and added it to the rabbit so that it looks like he’s holding it. I also added some pink to the back of his ears. For the flower, I trimmed the flower and adhered it to the top of the green flower sketch cut and added a matching button and baker’s twine.

For the finishing touches I added a pink striped bow and the Happy Easter sentiment from the Light Up Card Easter Bunny that can be found in Lori’s store here or in the Silhouette Design Store here.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you give the new sketch images a try and create your own little box for Easter or Wedding!
