Accordion Village Tin

Hi everyone!  I’ve been working on a few Christmas projects here and there.  Seems like I never have enough time to get everything done that I would like to create.  I have a fun quick little project to share with you today that makes for a cute gift for a coworker.  I created Lori’s  Accordion Christmas Village , but scaled it down a bit to fit inside a little Christmas tin that I had in my stash.  I cut two complete villages, I scaled them down to 4 inches tall,  added vellum to the backs and then adhered them all together. I kept the embellishments super simple as I didn’t want to distract from it’s simple charm….just some pearls, diamonds and a few hearts.  It’s the perfect little scene for my coworker’s desk to add a little bit of the holidays. Here it is all stretched out.  So cute with the little snowflake garland and bottle brush trees.

Fonts not uploading into Silhouette?

Hi friends! I recently started using Silhouette Studio. Everything was great until I had some trouble getting some of my purchased fonts to show up in the program even after I had done all of downloading, install, restart solutions I had been given. Luckily I had found someone with another suggestion that did fix my problem. So I’m going to share it with all of you too. Now this tip is for a Windows based PC.

I am trying to use the Thankful Font (SVG, Silhouette). I have downloaded and installed the font.

I typed in thankful and when I go to the Text Style window the Thankful Font does not show up as an available option.

First close out of Silhouette Studio. Go to the Start menu and search for the Run app. Select it.

When the Run window pops up type in %localappdata%  in the Open bar.

Then double click on the Microsoft folder.

Now double click on the Windows folder.

Now double click on the Fonts folder.

Now in the fonts folder you will see all the fonts that need permission for Silhouette to use. Right Click on Thankful Font and another smaller window will open. Click on Install for all users. Repeat for all the fonts that aren’t showing up in Silhouette.

Now reopen Silhouette Studio and the Thankful font is in the Test Style Box as an available option.

CHIPBOARD VILLAGE CLASS

The first session of my 3D Chipboard Village Class was held yesterday at Silhouette Headquarters.   This class focused on the assembly of the 3D House Chipboard Village Church/School, 3D House Chipboard Village Cottage and the 3D House Chipboard Village Manor.  I also discussed supplies and some options for customizing the village.  If you were unable to attend, no worries!  Silhouette has recorded the session and it is available on their YouTube Channel here.

There is still time to register for the second half of my class.  It will be held November 16th, 2021 at 11AM MST.  This class will cover the assembly of the 3D House Chipboard Village General Store, 3D House Chipboard Village Farmhouse, and the 3D House Chipboard Village Christmas Add-On REGISTER HERE.  The classes are free, and open to all, but you do need to register to watch the live sessions. You will need to purchase the files to create the houses.

The village houses can be purchased in the Silhouette Store HERE. They are also available in SVG format in the Lori Whitlock SVG shop both individually and as a bundle.  Below are photos and links for the village.

All Things Silhouette Winter Workshop
